Dal Tadka
A quick lentil recipe that is perfect for weekend lunch and goes so well with roti, rice and vegetables! It's very customizable, you can add in a lot of the tadka options.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor/Aarhar Dal
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 1.5 tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 tsp Hing Asafoetida
Instructions
- Wash the cup of lentils until water runs clear.
- In a pressure cooker, add in the lentils and water enough so that it's 1 inch above the lentils.
- Add in the salt and turmeric.
- Put the pressure cooker lid and on medium heat and have three whistles from the cooker.
- Let the pressure be released and once the lentils are cooked, start preparing the tadka.
- For the tadka, in a small pan, add in the ghee and the cumin seeds and asafiteda.
- Once it sizzles, add in the ghee mixture to the lentils and add in some water to the lentils if it seems too thick. Let it all come to a boil.
- Serve it the dal with a scoop of hot ghee! And enjoy with rice, roti and sabzi and it'll be your favorite quick meal!
